About the Project "ELYX ON THE ROADS"
Our project aims to raise students’ awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and encourage them to become responsible, empathetic, and environmentally conscious global citizens. Through international cooperation, students will explore environmental, economic, and social challenges while learning how their everyday choices can contribute to a safer and more sustainable future. Through digital storytelling, fairy-tale writing, international activities, discussions, and practical tasks, students will develop sustainable habits, creativity, critical thinking, empathy, and problem-solving skills. They will learn about issues such as climate change, responsible consumption, equality, and social inclusion. The project will also promote cooperation between students from different countries and cultures, helping them understand their role in creating positive change in their schools, communities, and the wider world.

Mālpils Secondary School is located in a rural municipality and plays an important role in a community that has faced various socio-economic challenges. The school is committed to providing all students, regardless of their background, with equal access to quality education and opportunities for personal development. Particular attention is given to students who may experience additional difficulties in their learning journey. The school’s strategy is aligned with the Sigulda Municipality Education Ecosystem Development Strategy 2023–2028. Mālpils Secondary School promotes modern and diverse educational opportunities, inclusive education, the integration of culture into the learning process, and the development of students’ digital skills.

The 1st Primary School of Itea provides education for 191 students aged 6 to 12, supported by 32 teachers. The school offers a broad curriculum that includes languages, mathematics, science, environmental studies, arts, physical education, computer science, and social sciences. Inclusive education is one of the school’s main priorities. The school provides an extended programme until 5:30 p.m., allowing students to participate in drama, music, STEM, and sports workshops. Its facilities include a computer laboratory, assembly hall, library, canteen, and art classroom. The school is actively involved in eTwinning and environmental projects focused on the sea, water, olive groves, and mountain hiking. Students also participate in sports activities and national mathematics and science competitions.

Güzeloba Primary School (GPS) is a large public school with approximately 1,200 pupils aged 6 to 11. The school offers a wide range of activities, including art, music, dance, coding, sports, and intelligence games. It is also actively involved in environmental, eTwinning, and STEAM projects focusing on sustainability, recycling, responsible consumption, and healthy living.
